FAQs
What makes up our rate?
Coming Soon
Why is our rate higher than in the past?
- Year to year, the largest contributor to water rate variability is water supply. Years of reduced allocation force budgets to expressed over lower volumes, resulting in higher water rates.
- Friant Water Authority costs continue to increase. In addition to routine O&M and Governance, facility repair such as the Middle Reach Capacity Correction Project (MRCCP) and others continue to rise.
- Lindmore is ahead of curve on delivery reliability and water supply sustainability. A seventy year old system demands major maintenance and replacement costs, and SGMA forces investment in water recharge facilities to ensure Lindmore growers have a reliable and sustainable water supply.
What factors have impacted the District's allocation from the USBR?
- State regulations and USBR operations have continually reduced water supplies over the past two decades.
- A change in weather trends has transitioned storage from the cold snowpack that slowly released over the summer, to heavy spring and early summer runoff, impacting Millerton storage capacity.
What were the pro-rates for the last five years?
- 2021 – 0.40 AF/ac. minimum
- 2022 – 0.55 AF/ac. minimum
- 2023 – 1.75 AF/ac. minimum
- 2024 – 1.40 AF/ac. minimum
- 2025 – 1.40 AF/ac. minimum
How will the District prepare for future variations in USBR water supply?
- The District made a significant investment in water recharge basins. With over 500 acres of facilities, the District has taken advantage of the early Spring runoff and flood flows which previously would not have been captured. This improved capacity to manage water supplies ensures water resiliency and increases farmland values.
- Lindmore works closely with the USBR and Friant Water Authority to protect our water supplies and improve management decisions which result in additional water supplies to our landowners.
- District management serves in East Kaweah management roles, making sure local control of water resources is protected in the implementation of SGMA.
